A full-day wedding at Lower Lode can keep the civil ceremony, meal and evening celebration in one place. An intimate or weekday wedding brings a smaller guest list into a more intimate room. A reception-only plan lets you marry elsewhere and make the riverside hall the home of the party.

Use guest numbers as a design tool

Capacity is a limit, not a target. A room can be within its approved ceremony capacity and still need a different layout for dining, a band, accessibility or a generous dance floor.

At Lower Lode, the main hall is approved for civil ceremonies of up to 100, can seat around 80–100 for the meal depending on layout, and can host more than 200 in the evening. The smaller approved ceremony room holds up to 35 and can host private functions of up to 50, depending on layout.

Take an approximate daytime and evening number to your viewing. Ask the team to show you a comfortable layout, not only the maximum.

Decide how much movement feels right

Some couples like the simplicity of one venue. Others enjoy travelling from a church or register office before the reception. Think about older guests, young children, rural transport and the time you want to spend together rather than in transit.

If you use several spaces at Lower Lode, ask how guests move between them and what happens during a room turn. Walk that route in person, including the wet-weather version.
