Can we hold our legal ceremony at Lower Lode?

Yes. Lower Lode Inn is an approved ceremony venue with licensed indoor spaces. You arrange and pay for the registrar separately through Gloucestershire Registration Service.

How many guests can each space accommodate?

The function hall seats up to 100 for a licensed ceremony and 80–100 for dining, depending on layout. It can host more than 200 for an evening reception or party. The smaller licensed option accommodates up to 35 for a ceremony; the smaller private dining/function space can host up to 50 covers.

Can our ceremony and reception happen in one place?

Yes. A full Lower Lode wedding can move from a licensed indoor ceremony to riverside drinks, food, speeches and an evening celebration without guests changing venue.

Can we have a legal ceremony outdoors?

The verified legal ceremony options are indoors. Talk to the team about how you hope to use the riverside setting, and they will confirm what is possible for your date without assuming an outdoor legal ceremony is licensed.

Do you host intimate and weekday weddings?

Yes. The smaller licensed room in the main inn building is designed for up to 35 ceremony guests, with a warm scale that suits a compact guest list and a calmer weekday pace.

Can we hold only the reception at Lower Lode?

Yes. If you are marrying elsewhere, you can discuss a riverside arrival followed by food, speeches, a full bar, music and an evening celebration in the function hall.

What wedding formats can we discuss?

The main starting points are a full riverside day, an intimate weekday wedding, a reception-only celebration and a stay-and-celebrate enhancement. Each is shaped into a tailored proposal rather than treated as a rigid bundle.

Why are prices not displayed online?

Guest numbers, room layout, food, timings and stayover needs can change the shape of a celebration. A conversation or private viewing gives the team enough context to prepare a personalised proposal around what matters to you.

Is everything shown automatically included?

No. The site shows possibilities to discuss. Your proposal will confirm the spaces, services and timings agreed for your date and chosen format.

What food styles are available?

The venue currently offers options including more formal meals, buffets, barbecues, pig roasts and vegan buffets. The team will talk through a suitable format rather than publish an unapproved sample menu.

Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Discuss allergies and dietary needs with the team when planning your menu. They will confirm what can be prepared safely for your guest list and chosen service style.

Is there a full bar?

Yes. The function hall has its own full bar, while the wider inn brings the character of a proper independent pub to the celebration.

Can we bring an external caterer or our own drinks?

Do not assume a fixed outside-catering, corkage or alcohol policy. Share your ideas with the team and they will confirm what is possible for the date and spaces you are considering.

Can we have a band or DJ?

The function hall has live-music capability and is used for evening celebrations. Talk through the act, equipment, setup and timings before confirming a supplier.

How late can an evening celebration run?

A 2am licence is currently advertised for Fridays and Saturdays. Your proposal and planning conversation will confirm the timings that apply to your date and format.

Can we personalise the hall?

Yes. The hall is presented as a flexible blank canvas. Discuss styling, suppliers, access and setup timing with the team so the practical details are confirmed.

Are external suppliers allowed?

Supplier arrangements can vary. Bring your ideas to a viewing and the team will confirm which suppliers and setup plans work for your date and chosen spaces.

What happens if the weather changes?

The legal ceremony, dining and evening celebration all have indoor options. Riverside drinks and photographs can be adapted around conditions, with the detailed wet-weather plan agreed as the day takes shape.

Are guest rooms available?

Lower Lode Inn has five en-suite guest rooms. Block booking is available to discuss, subject to availability and the arrangements agreed for your date.

Can wedding guests camp?

Seasonal camping can be discussed, and complimentary camping is currently advertised with function-hall bookings. The team will confirm the allocation and practical arrangements for your celebration.

What facilities does the campsite have?

The traditional lawned campsite is open from Easter to autumn and currently provides electric hook-up, drinking water, Elsan disposal, showers and toilets. It is rustic and practical rather than glamping.

Is breakfast included with guest rooms?

The current room information includes a full English breakfast and Wi-Fi. Confirm wedding-morning timings and any group arrangements directly with the team.

Is there on-site parking?

Yes. There is on-site parking. At a viewing, ask how arrivals, suppliers and any guests with mobility needs should be coordinated for your plans.

What access information is available?

The main pub area is currently described as wheelchair friendly and one guest room as wheelchair accessible. The whole site has not been presented as completely step free, so contact the team to discuss the route, spaces, toilets and individual needs before booking.

Are dogs allowed at weddings?

Dogs are welcome at the wider venue, but ceremony and reception arrangements should be confirmed for your date and chosen spaces.

How do guests find the venue?

The inn is at Bishops Walk, Forthampton, near Tewkesbury, GL19 4RE, with practical road access from the M5 and M50. Share the dedicated visit page with guests rather than relying on a postcode alone.

Can river conditions affect access?

Occasionally. The official venue information advises calling ahead during flood events. The sitewide notice can also carry an urgent access update when one is published.

How do we arrange a viewing?

Call, email or use the enquiry form. Share your approximate date, guest numbers and the style of celebration you are considering so the meeting can focus on the right spaces.

What should we bring to a viewing?

Bring approximate ceremony and evening numbers, a date or season, your priorities for food and atmosphere, accessibility needs, stayover ideas and a short list of questions. Inspiration is welcome, but you do not need a finished plan.

What happens after we enquire?

The team reviews your plans, follows up by your preferred contact method and helps arrange a private viewing or planning conversation. A tailored proposal follows once the format and key details are understood.

Is the registrar arranged separately?

Yes. The venue and legal ceremony arrangements are separate. Contact Gloucestershire Registration Service to check registrar availability before treating a ceremony time as confirmed.

How are deposit and booking terms supplied?

The team supplies the applicable proposal and booking terms directly. This site does not invent or summarise contractual payment, cancellation or deposit rules.
